                                                   Profiles of Young Scholars:

Dr. Wu Jiang

Dr. Wu Jiang is an Official Assistant Researcher at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) in Japan. He specializes in researching low-carbon processes for the biological treatment of organic pollutants, wastewater, and solid waste. Dr. Jiang completed his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tohoku University in 2019. He is a recipient of a full scholarship from the JSPS Fellowship project and joined NIES in 2020. Dr. Jiang has published over 30 papers in esteemed journals such as Water Research and Bioresource Technology. He is an active member of the International Water Association (IWA) and other professional societies, presenting at conferences globally. Additionally, Dr. Jiang serves as a reviewer for journals including the Chemical Engineering Journal and Journal of Cleaner Production, and he holds a position as a Young Editor for the Chinese core journal "China Water & Wastewater."

Dr. Yang Chongyang

Dr. Yang Chongyang is an Assistant Professor at the Environmental Conservation Laboratory, University of Tokyo. His primary focus is on ecological restoration, specifically the development and mechanism research of ecological restoration technologies involving plants and microorganisms. Dr. Yang earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Tohoku University in 2020. He has published multiple SCI papers, notably in the Journal of Hazardous Materials and Science of the Total Environment. Dr. Yang is a Principal Investigator for two Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) research projects, accumulating research funds totaling 6.4 million JPY. He has actively participated in international academic cooperation projects between Japan and France.

Dr. Wu Lina

Dr. Wu Lina is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in Agriculture and Bioresource Engineering. She obtained her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 2022 under the supervision of Professor Amin Elshorbagy. Dr. Wu's research focuses on the nexus of water, food, and energy security. She has published five academic papers as the first author in journals such as Resources Conservation and Recycling and Agricultural Water Management. Dr. Wu has presented her research at the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) and serves as a reviewer for several journals.

Dr. Lu Tongping

Dr. Lu Tongping is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University. His research centers around land carbon cycling, environmental change, and ecosystem carbon sequestration. Dr. Lu received his Ph.D. in Global Environmental Change from Beijing Normal University in 2021. He is the Principal Investigator for a National Natural Science Foundation of China Young Scientists Fund project and has published over 10 academic papers. Dr. Lu has participated in international conferences such as AGU and served as a reviewer for journals like the Journal of Cleaner Production and Scientific Reports.

Dr. Xu Fei

Dr. Xu Fei is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, specializing in urban environmental remote sensing based on satellite image quality enhancement techniques. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2022. During his Ph.D., Dr. Xu published three representative papers in top journals such as Remote Sensing of Environment and ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. In June 2022, he was awarded a postdoctoral matching fund from Hong Kong Polytechnic University to provide innovative solutions to the "scale gap problem" in the fusion of observations from geostationary and polar-orbiting satellites.
